We all have stories from our childhood that we aren’t proud of, but Matthew Perry’s latest may take the cake!

The Friends alum stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night and shared a story that he was ashamed of. Growing up in Canada, Matthew attended school with none other than Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and apparently they weren’t buddies.

Matthew told Jimmy, “I have a story about him that I’m not proud of. I was reminded (of) this — my friend Chris Murray who was also in the fifth grade — we actually beat up Justin Trudeau. We both beat him up.”

Say what?!

Matthew was in 5th grade, and was 2 years older than Justin. So what beef did little Matthew have with him?

“Pure jealousy,” Matthew said. “I think he was excelling at a sport that we weren’t as good at. His dad was the Prime Minister. I don’t think that’s the reason we beat him up, I think he was the only kid in school we could beat up. I’m not bragging about. It was terrible. I was a stupid kid. I didn’t want to beat him up. In fact, I think at one point I tried to turn it into love play.”

While Matthew clearly feels awful about his behavior, he quickly found a way to make find the positive. He said,

“I think it was instrumental in him going to such great heights and becoming the prime minister. I think he said, ‘I’m going to rise above this and I’m going to become prime minister.’”

Could this be why Justin is a such a skilled boxer today? We don’t think Matthew will be asking for another round anytime soon!
