Selena Gomez’s Mom Isn’t Feeling The Weeknd
It looks like things are getting more serious between Selena Gomez and The Weeknd! The superstar brought her man, who’s real name is Abel Tesfaye, home to meet her mom recently, but it seems he didn’t exactly pass with flying colors.
A source told Life & Style exclusively that Selena’s mom, Mandy Teefey, isn’t sold on her new beau. The source said:
“Mandy has met Abel and thinks he is respectful in person, but she doesn’t think he’s a good influence on Selena,” and that she doesn’t dig his “dirty and drug-related lyrics.”
Apparently, Mandy isn’t the only one. The source continued:
“A lot of Selena’s friends and family fear that she’ll go down the wrong path again. They feel she needs to be surrounded by healthy people.”
Back in October, the Disney alum spent some time in a rehab facility to deal with her lupus-related anxiety, but some feel that wasn’t the only issue. The inside source told Life & Style then that Selena’s ex, Justin Bieber, was a factor as well. The source said:
“Justin is such poison to Selena. Even when he isn’t around, she is still self-destructing because of him.”
If this is the case, then it’s not surprising that Mandy would be so protective when it comes to her daughter’s relationships. The two are clearly very close. Selena posted a photo them together on Instagram in January with a caption that read, “my momma. I sit back and think about how much she has done and shown me..it truly has blown me away. She teaches me most about life and I couldn’t be luckier to have a partner like her in life.” Take a look:
