My Fair Lady is Coming to Broadway!

One of Broadway’s best loved musicals is returning to the Great White Way this year by way of Lincoln Center Theatre. Directed by Bartlett She, performances of My Fair Lady are scheduled to begin March 22 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater and will open April 19.

No word yet on the official casting, but rumors have been perculating for some time now as to who will helm the musical. A few years ago, Clive Davis had said he intended to bring the show to Broadway with Oscar winners Anne Hathaway and Colin Firth — but that’s not to tell yet.

This is Bartlett’s third musical to play at the Beaumont. Other productions include South Pacific and The King and I. He also directed Fiddler on the Roof, The Bridges of Madison County, Golden Boy, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and The Light in the Piazza.

The musical originally opened in 1956 with Rex Harrison and of course Julie Andrews. The show made her into a superstar.

My Fair Lady hasn’t been revived since 1993, and it will join the likes of other beloved musicals like Hello Dolly!, starring Bette Midler and Sunset Boulevard, starring Glenn Close.
