OMG, Viola Davis Wins Yet Another Award!

Viola Davis is on a roll!

51-year-old added to her epic award collection when she was given Harvard University’s ‘Artist of the Year’ award on Saturday. The actress the took to the stage at the university’s campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts with gratitude, promising to “try to live up” to the award. Viola opened up about her experience at Juliard, and about the massive impact of art. She said:

“It’s a very sacred place, the stage and the screen. At the end of the day, what I do as an artist is channel characters and their stories and those moments in their lives that we sometimes hide.”

Besides her Oscar win last week, Viola has also received the Critics’ Choice, Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild, and British Academy of Films and Television Arts awards for her portrayal of ‘Rose Maxson’ in the film adaptation of August Wilson’s play, “Fences.” Not to mention the Tony award she has for the 2010 Broadway version!

Viola joins the prestigious list of previous winners including, Salma Hayek, Andy Garcia, Quincy Jones, and Shakira.
