Back in July 2015, it was reported that a college student named Edenilson Steven Valle drowned in Demi Moore’s swimming pool during a party that happened while she was out of town.

Now, his family is suing those liable claiming Edenilson told people he couldn’t swim when he arrived. While Demi is not mentioned in the lawsuit, her house manager and business manager, Lenny Hernandez and Bessy Wong, are mentioned.

According to New York Daily News, people who attended were forced to navigate a perilous environment, including a dark pool with an unmarked deep end and dangerous walkways. Allegedly, there was also alcohol at the party.

“House manager Lenny Hernandez knew there was drinking that night, and in fact she was serving alcohol at a party which was unsafe to host,” the lawsuit claimed. “Police photos of the backyard show very serious lighting issues and numerous decorative rocks placed randomly for effect, creating abundant trip hazards.”

Edenilson’s friend Gabby Ventura said, “He was a great kid. Never got into any trouble. Everyone loved him. He was just really talented and smart. He had a lot of goals. He wanted to be an artist and a businessman.”

At the time, Demi was just as shocked as the partygoers were: “I am in absolute shock,” she said in a statement. She also called his death an “unthinkable tragedy” and said her “heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends.”
