It’s about damn time that Disney remade Mulan, a story about a woman going to fight for her country and family and honor — we totally need this right now!

What’s ever better is that this week, Disney announced a female director will be at the helm of the film, and according to Hollywood Reporter it is Niki Caro! The movie is also being executive produced by Hong Kong-based producer Bill Kong to help be sure that casting is done effectively.

Niki’s past work includes the 2005 film North Country, which earned two Oscar noms, and The Zookeeper’s Wife.

Just to let you know how big of a deal this is: Niki is only the second woman in history to direct a film that has a budget over $100 million! The first was Ava DuVernay for the upcoming A Wrinkle in Time.

This is sure to be one of the best Disney remakes ever!
