Hollywood power couple, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, tend to be on the ultra-private side, but not when it comes to giving each other props.

At the recent Golden Globe Awards, Ryan sang his wife’s praises during his acceptance speech for “Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy” for La La Land, while managing to not even mention her by name. But this time, he’s making sure credit goes where it is due.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ryan revealed that one of the most memorable lines in the movie was lifted from his better half.

He told ET:

“‘LA worships everything and values nothing.’ That was something my lady said to me one day and I thought it was so funny I asked her if I could put it in the movie. She was kidding, but it’s a funny thing to say… I loved when she said it, because it’s funny enough to have some truth to it, you know? But it’s obviously a joke, so it just seemed appropriate for the movie.”

La La Land set a record with seven Golden Globe awards, and is nominated for twelve Academy Awards, with Ryan up for “Best Actor”.

The Academy Awards will take place on February 26. We’re looking forward to seeing if Eva will join Ryan this time, and if he wins, how he manage to top all these sweet tributes to her.
Good luck, Ryan!
