Leah Remini has lifted the veil on her life of Scientology, and her mission continues.

The King of Queens star, who grew up in the Church of Scientology, appeared on Sunrise this morning to talk more about her experience, and to compel others to leave the church as well. During her candid interview with David Koch and Samantha Armytage, she said the church tried to tear her family apart. She said:

“When I saw that, I couldn’t continue to be part of it.” She continued, “I was trying to hang on to my family for all of these years. Something inside of me was telling me to get them out of this thing.”

Leah recently put it all out there in her eight-part documentary, Leah Remini: Scientology and The Aftermath, where she revealed what her life was like as a member of the church. It took her a while to to realize the truth of what was happening, though. She said the tipping point for her was when she noticed Michele Miscavige, the wife of Scientology leader David Miscavige, was not present at the wedding of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. She told Sunrise:

“Where was she? I was told I did not have the rank to find out where she was.”

She added:

“The people that are there truly live in a bubble, like I did. I truly believed that we were really doing great things for the world.”

This morning she encouraged others to have the courage to leave as well, saying:

“For those in the dark, I want to say, ‘Stop it’. Stop giving up your families and your life, for something that is truly damaging.”
