A lot of work went into casting the famous trio for the Harry Potter franchise. For Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, the road to the roles of their life wasn’t easy.
Casting director Janet Hirshenson said that Daniel had originally taken himself out of the running to play Harry.
According to The Huffington Post, all hope wasn’t lost.
“One evening, David Heyman the producer went to the theater, and he knew Daniel’s father, who was an agent … so the producer ran into Daniel and his dad and said to Daniel, ‘Why don’t you come in and audition? Think about it.’ So he said, ‘OK.’”
Radcliffe wasn’t yet locked in the role yet since the director still needed to screen test the actors.
The tests were done at the same time with “mixes and matches.”
