Mandy Moore opened up about her personal life in a way she never has before — in a new interview with Byrdie, the actress shared her experiences growing up with a gay mom and two gay brothers.

“I’ve never really talked about this,” she said, “but my parents are divorced. My mother left my father for a woman. And both of my two brothers are gay… My parents loved each other; they did an incredible job raising all of us.”

While her LGBT family members might have been news to the world, her activism around LGBT causes are not.

She’s been a firm ally every step of the way, and chances are she’s not stopping anytime soon. This is one Hollywood star who is just getting started.
