Why anyone would want to remake a perfectly great movie is beyond me, especially if it involves taking away the amazing characters Bette Midler created to perfection.

But Lifetime did. And since it is starring yet another fierce star, Idina Menzel, we’re totally okay with it.

A remake of the 1988 film Beaches, starring Barbara Hershey and Bette Midler, the film for Lifetime stars Nia Long and Idina Menzel as two pen pals destined to be best friends — even though they’re polar opposites.

Did we mention there’s a new take on “Wind Beneath My Wings” and “Story of Love”?
