Anne Heche on Her Awkward ‘Dancing With the Stars’ Elimination

Anne Heche is speaking out about her weird Dancing with the Stars elimination on Monday night.

If you didn’t catch it, Tyra Banks made a major mistake when announcing the results of the fan vote at the end of the episode.

When she found out she’d been eliminated, the actress reportedly stormed off the set and was “furious” about how the scene played out after judges chose to boot her instead of Cheer star Monica Aldama.

During the episode, she also spoke about how in 1999, she was fired from Fox for going public about her relationship with Ellen DeGeneres.

“The honest truth is that it took 20 years to process and share that story, so finally, telling it and being voted off on the same night was not the best feeling,” she said in a follow-up statement to Page Six. “It did feel good to tell my story to show that we have come a long way, and we see things with more acceptance now — even though we are not all the way there yet, it’s important to recognize how far we have come.”

The next day, she did speak with Good Morning America. By then, she had cooled off and called it a “blessing” to be on the show.

“To be able to have a partner to tell the truth with and to learn with,” she said. “Listen, I live in love, I live in truth and I stood up for it 10 years ago, 20 years ago and I stand up for this very same thing today.”

Anne then said she was “very proud, very happy” to be on DWTS.

We love you, Anne. It’s all good! Brush it off.
