We’re so happy to report that justice has nearly arrived for the family of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old Black woman fatally shot by police in Louisville, Ky.

According to reports, the family has reached a $12 million settlement with the city in a wrongful death suit.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer addressed Taylor’s mother, Tamika Palmer, in a statement yesterday, saying, “I cannot begin to imagine Miss Palmer’s pain, and I’m deeply, deeply sorry for Breonna’s death.”

The state’s attorney general, Daniel Cameron, is still investigating whether to bring criminal charges against the three officers named in the lawsuit.
