Congratulations to Elton John who is celebrating three decades of sobriety.

Recently, the music icon posted a powerful message alongside photos of a cake in the shape of the number 30. How fabulous!

“I’m truly a blessed man. If I hadn’t finally taken the big step of asking for help 30 years ago, I’d be dead,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank-you from the bottom of my heart to all the people who have inspired and supported me along the way.”

He later called his “sobriety birthday” the “most magical day.”

“So many lovely cards, flowers and chips from my sons, [husband] David [Furnish], friends in the Program, staff at the office and in our homes,” he said.

In an interview last year with NBC’s Harry Smith, Elton said that his “biggest regret is taking drugs,” in relation to his cocaine addiction.
