‘The Wonder Years’ Reboot Will Feature a Black Family, Thanks to Lee Daniels

We’re so excited for this!

The Wonder Years is returning to ABC with a brand new focus, thanks to Lee Daniels.

It’s been almost three decades since the iconic coming-of-age comedy aired on ABC. Now, the network is working on a reboot featuring a Black family in Alabama for the 2021-2022 television season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The original series followed a white middle-class family in the 1960s. Fred Savage and Josh Saviano, of course, launched into stardom as best friends Kevin Arnold and Paul Pfeiffer.

Let’s not forget Danica McKellar, who played Kevin’s love interest, Winnie Cooper.

The reboot will focus on a Black middle-class family in Montgomery, Alabama during the turbulent late 1960s as they “made sure it was The Wonder Years for them too,” THR reported as the description.

All we can say is… Bravo, Lee! Thank you for bringing this to us.

Don’t you love Lee Daniels?
