A San Francisco lawmaker is trying to make it illegal for people to make racist 911 calls.

Shamann Walton, one of the city’s supervisors, is introducing the “CAREN Act,” short for Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies, he said in a tweet.

The law would hold callers “liable for damages no less than $1,000,” according to a press release.

Of course, the announcement comes after a wave of white women (dubbed as “Karens”) went viral after displaying racist sentiments publicly.

Honestly… what took so long?? This should have happened decades ago.
