Disney World is Updating Splash Mountain to be Based on ‘The Princess and the Frog’

Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Florida recently reimagined the Splash Mountain ride with a story inspired by 2009’s The Princess and the Frog.

The fan-favorite attraction is currently based on the 1946 Disney film Song of the South, which has long been criticized for its problematic portrayal of the post-Civil War South and for employing racist stereotypes.

Now, Disney revealed they will update the theme with the company’s first Black princess, Tiana.

Anika Noni Rose, who voices Princess Tiana, shared her excitement about the decision in an Instagram post.

We can’t wait to see the finished product!
