Miley Cyrus is Six Months Sober

Miley Cyrus revealed in a new interview that she is six months sober from alcohol and weed.

“I’ve been sober sober for the past six months,” she told Variety, adding that the change was first ignited due to a prior “vocal surgery,” but apparently the lifestyle stuck!

The singer underwent vocal cord surgery after being hospitalized for tonsillitis. The recovery required several weeks of silence.

The good thing is that through her sobriety, Miley discovered in therapy that her parents’ childhoods may have affected her.

“My mom was adopted, and I inherited some of the feelings she had, the abandonment feelings and wanting to prove that you’re wanted and valuable,” she said. “My dad’s parents divorced when he was 3, so my dad raised himself. I did a lot of family history, which has a lot of addiction and mental health challenges.”

However, her parents Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus have not yet decided to quit smoking pot.

“One of my favorite interviews is when I say, ‘Anyone that smokes weed is a dummy,’” she said. “That one I love to send to my parents, who are big stoners, every now and then. It’s been really important for me over the last year living a sober lifestyle, because I really wanted to polish up my craft.”

Good for you, Miley!
