Costa Rica Legalizes Same-Sex Marriage!

Costa Rica is now the first country in Central America to legalize same-sex marriage.

The decision came two years after the country’s supreme court declared its ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional. That ban was lifted at midnight, and couples across the country celebrated by tying the knot.

Ceremonies were broadcast on state TV as part of a campaign called “I Do,” the Associated Press reports.

“It gives us so much joy,” the campaign’s director Gia Miranda told AP. “The only thing that could win with this is Costa Rica and in general, love.”

Love is love, y’all. Congrats to the happy couples!
