Will Shepard Smith Replace Chris Matthews on ‘Hardball?’

According to the NY Post, MSNBC sources are saying that veterans Shepard Smith, Steve Kornacki, and Joy Reid are all being considered to take over Chris Matthews’s newly vacated seat on MSNBC’s Hardball.

As we previously reported, the legendary journalist abruptly announced his retirement in the wake of accusations that he acted inappropriately toward a female guest.

Joy Reid currently hosts, MSNBC’s popular weekend show AM Joy. Meanwhile, Shepard Smith, who quit his Fox News show Shepard Smith Reporting, is also being considered.

“It comes straight after the evening news, when viewers want anchors to weigh in with their own thoughts and analysis — not just read the headlines, so it’s a tough gig,” a source said of the 7pm time slot.

Well, whoever it is, they have some heavy shoes to fill!
