What Will Harry & Meghan Do For Money Now That They’re No Longer in the Family?

After yesterday’s announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be separating themselves from the royal family in 2020, folks are asking themselves… what the hell are they gonna do for money now?

The royal couple has since clarified how they will achieve financial independence.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex explained how it “will take time to transition in consultation with other senior members of the Royal Family” on their website, SussexRoyal.com.

Additionally, they said they will “no longer receive funding through the Sovereign Grant,” making them “members of the Royal Family with financial independence.”

For those who don’t know, The Sovereign Grant is the annual funding mechanism of the monarchy that covers the work of the Royal Family in support of The Queen, including expenses to maintain official residences and workspaces.

The grant has covered 5 percent of the cost of The Duke and Duchess’ official office expenses since 2019.

The announcement concluded that Harry and Meghan “prefer to release this financial tie” and that “they value the ability to earn a professional income, which in the current structure they are prohibited from doing.”

They also said that financial freedom is “something they look forward to.”

We don’t know about you, but getting a crown and then throwing it away…? Sounds kinda nuts right? However, no one knows their situation so perhaps it’s best to trust that they know what they’re doing.

Only time will tell what’s to come of this! Without a doubt, this one is for the history books.
