Jake Gyllenhaal is Producing and Starring in Broadway’s ‘Fun Home’ Film Adaption

Coming soon to a funeral parlor near you…!

Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal will produce and star in an upcoming big screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home, based on Alison Bechdel’s 2006 graphic memoir.

The story is about author and cartoonist, Alison, at three different stages in her life. The musical uncovers memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family and their day to day life as they manage a funeral home. Plus, it chronicles her journey of coming out as a lesbian.

According to reports, Jake will play Alison’s father, Bruce, and will produce the film through his production company Nine Stories Productions.

Fun Home was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and won seven, including Best Musical. We don’t know about you, but we think this should be very very good.

We wonder who’s going to play young Alison!
