Five people were killed in a plane crash near Lafayette, La. on Saturday. Among them was 30-year-old sports reporter Carley McCord.

The plane was headed to Atlanta, where Carley was set to cover a college football playoff game.

WDSU President and General Manager, Joel Vilmenay, also made a statement to AP:

“We are devastated by the loss of such an amazing talent and valued member of our WDSU family,” Joel said. “Carley’s passion for sports journalism and her deep knowledge of Louisiana sports, from high school to the professional ranks, made her an exceptional journalist. As we reflect on her impressive body of work, we offer our deepest condolences to her family.”

Our hearts go out to Carley’s family during this difficult time. She will be missed.
