Um… Apparently Princess Diana’s ‘John Travolta Dress’ Failed to Sell at Auction

How is this possible? But actually, how is it possible?

The iconic gown worn by Princess Diana when she danced with John Travolta at the White House failed to sell at auction.

After it didn’t sell, the Victor Edelstein-designed dress was bought by Historic Royal Palaces, a charity that acquires and cares for important royal artifacts and exhibits. They bought it for $290,000.

Diana wore the dress to a state dinner in 1985.

“We’re delighted to have acquired this iconic evening gown for the Royal Ceremonial Dress Collection — a designated collection of national and international importance — over 20 years since it first left Kensington Palace,” Eleri Lynn, Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, said in a statement.

Well, at least we know it’s in good hands!
