WATCH: Queen Elizabeth’s First Televised Christmas Message Will Melt Your Heart

No one does Christmas like the royal family (sorry, Mariah!).

In a touching post, the family shared Queen Elizabeth’s first ever televised Christmas message in 1957.

“I very much hope that this new medium will make my Christmas message more personal and direct,” she said in the old clip as she looks into the camera smiling.

“It’s inevitable that I should seem a rather remote figure to many of you – a successor to the Kings and Queens of history,” she continued. “Someone whose face may be familiar in newspapers and films but who never really touches your personal lives. But now at least for a few minutes I welcome you to the peace of my own home.”

To anyone who watches The Crown, doesn’t this just melt your heart?

As we previously reported, the Queen is rumored to be retiring in a couple years when she turns 95. She will absolutely be missed — if she ever does decide to pass on the crown, that is.
