Immense speculation is hovering around Queen Elizabeth’s retirement, soon after her son Prince Andrew’s recent departure from public life.

According to multiple reports, the 93-year-old monarch is considering handing over the crown to Prince Charles when she turns 95 — which is in only 18 months.

As People reports, the claim first appeared in a respected 2018 biography about Charles called Charles At Seventy. Author Robert Jobson wrote it was likely that the Queen will “trigger a period of regency,” in which she will grant her eldest son the “full power to reign.”

“One senior aide told me that the Queen has given the matter of her passing hears considerable thought and believes, that, if she is still alive at ninety-five she will consider passing the reign to Charles,” Jobson wrote.

However, in all fairness, a spokesman from Prince Charles’s office told People yesterday that there haven’t been any such discussions.

“There are no plans for any change in arrangements at the age of 95 — or any other age,” the spokesman said.

Of course, Buckingham Palace will not comment on the matter either.

If the Queen did retire next year, let’s face it, it’ll be the end of one hell of a ride on the throne. Plus, she’ll have more time to watch The Crown!
