Yas! Gay Christmas Movies Might Be Coming To The Hallmark Channel

Oh hell yes! The Hallmark Channel could be looking quite colorful soon.

The network’s chief executive Bill Abbott spilled the beans in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s TV’s Top 5 podcast, and said the company is “open” to featuring same-sex love in its seasonal lineup.

We know what you’re thinking… “open” really? It’s 2020 y’all!

Co-host Daniel Fienberg brought up to Bill a recent report from The Wrap indicating that there isn’t a single major LGBTQ+ character in Hallmark’s 2019 Christmas lineup.

“I’m gay, where are the same-sex movies?” Daniel asked Bill. “Have you talked about incorporating stories about same-sex couples at Christmas?”

Bill responded, “We’re open to really any type of movie of any type of relationship in any space.”

Co-host Lesley Goldberg also chimed in, saying, “My wife and I are not reflected on anything you guys are doing. It would be really cool to broaden out and have our nieces see a version of us on TV, or see a version of anything else besides Christmas with, you know, white leads.”

“In terms of broadening out the demographic,” Bill replied, “It’s something we’re always thinking about, always considering. And we’ll continue to make the movies where the best scripts are delivered to us — and where we think have the most potential.”

Michelle Vicary, executive vice president of programming for Crown Media Family Networks added in a statement to The Wrap: “We are continuing to expand our diversity. We are looking at pitches for LGBTQ movies … and we are looking to expand and represent the United States as a whole.”

Right-wing sites have already jumped on the network.

In fact, LifeSiteNews has started a petition urging Hallmark to “keep sex and sexual practices — including the promotion of homosexuality, transgenderism, etc. — out of [its] movies.”

“Hallmark would be offending Christian viewers and Christian parents BIG TIME, by experimenting with homosexual themes, and, or cooperating with the LGBT indoctrination agenda, at all,” the petition says. “By doing so, Hallmark would risk losing a big part of their market — because people just couldn’t be sure of what to expect.”

Oy vey! Well clearly The Hallmark Channel has an interesting dilemma to figure out: Piss off the gays or piss of the Radical Conservatives?

We say, it’s Christmas y’all. Everyone deserves a little holiday spirit.
