Gabrielle Union Complained About Racism at ‘AGT’ Before She Was Fired

Before Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough were fired from America’s Got Talent last week, Gabrielle reportedly complained of a “toxic” workplace culture at the show.

A new report by Variety gave insight into NBC’s decision.

The outlet reports that while working on the show, Gabrielle had expressed concerns over racially insensitive situations — including an insensitive joke guest judge Jay Leno made that was later edited out of the episode.

Additionally, Gabrielle says she and Julianne received “excessive notes” on their physical appearance.

A spokesperson has since issued a statement, which says:

America’s Got Talent has a long history of inclusivity and diversity in both our talent and the acts championed by the show. The judging and host line-up has been regularly refreshed over the years and that is one of the reasons for AGT’s enduring popularity. NBC and the producers take any issues on set seriously.”

Well, clearly this is going to get a lot of attention for the show. But perhaps not all attention is good attention…?
