BREAKING: Chick-fil-A Will No Longer Donate To Anti-LGBTQ Causes

It was just announced that Chick-fil-A will no longer donate to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Salvation Army, two organizations that have been criticized for being anti-LGBTQ.

“We made multiyear commitments to both organizations, and we fulfilled those obligations in 2018. Moving forward you will see that the Chick-fil-A Foundation will support the three specific initiatives of homelessness, hunger and education,” a representative said in a statement to Business Insider.

Furthermore, the fast food chain has faced incredible backlash from LGBTQ activists for its donations to right-wing and religious organizations known for lobbying against LGBTQ rights through the WinShape Foundation.

Due to overwhelming pressure, it stopped those prior donations in 2012.

According to Nation’s Restaurant News, Chick-fil-A was the third-largest chain in the U.S. by sales last year, growing revenue by 16.7 percent in 2018 to reach nearly $10.5 billion — behind McDonald’s and Starbucks.

Through the years, protestors have picketed the company, which has caused numerous franchises to either cease opening or close its location altogether.

In the new year, as explained in the previous statement, Chick-fil-A said it is committing $9 million to each initiative around education, homelessness, and hunger by expanding partnerships with the nonprofit Junior Achievement USA and the homeless-youth organization Covenant House International.

It is also dedicating $25,000 to a local food bank following each new Chick-fil-A opening.

Is this a new turn of events? Are we allowed to eat Chick-Fil-A again?!
