Jennifer Hudson Steps Into Aretha Franklin’s Shoes In New Biopic ‘Respect’
The long-awaited Aretha Franklin biopic Respect is almost here, and Jennifer Hudson is taking the lead and showing mad respect for the late Queen of Soul.
This week, J.Hud was photographed on the set alongside costar Marlon Wayans, who plays Aretha’s first husband Ted White.
The movie is set to be released next year. Clearly, the cast is feeling the era in their tweeds and fedora hats. Gotta love it!
Just so you know, Aretha knew Jennifer was playing her all along, and she absolutely approved.
In fact, Aretha told People magazine back in 2016, “I’ve talked to the person that is going to play me. I’m not going to say who I chose, but I’ve talked to her and she’s ready and I’m happy with her.”
