Marie Osmond Thought She Was Gay After Surviving Sexual Abuse

Marie Osmond recently shared that she questioned her sexuality after surviving sexual abuse.

While opening up on The Talk, Marie said she “thought I had to be gay” in a world of “evil” men.

“When I was about 8 or 9 I actually thought I was gay,” she said. “And the reason is because I had been sexually abused to the point that men made me sick. I didn’t trust them. I didn’t like them.”

“I had so many body issues,” she added.  “I was looking at women, and I thought, Why am I looking at women? I must be gay.”

While she didn’t identity her attacker, Marie said that growing up as the only girl in the family changed her views on men as well as her own sexuality.

“Why did God give me these great brothers and why did he give me this amazing father?” she said. “And truly they changed my opinion of men, which made me feel that it was something I was going through.”

Thanks for being honest, Marie, and thankfully we’re all enlightened enough as a culture to acknowledge that being LGBTQ is something we’re born as.
