Zoë Kravitz Was Told She Was Too ‘Urban’ to Be in a ‘Batman’ Movie — And Now, She’s Catwoman!

Ah, the sweet smell of revenge…

Apparently, years before she was cast as Catwoman, Zoë Kravitz was told she was too “urban” for a role in a Batman movie, as People reports.

In an old 2015 interview with Nylon, Zoë revealed that she couldn’t get an audition for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, which starred Christian Bale as Batman.

“In the last Batman movie [The Dark Knight Rises], they told me that I couldn’t get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren’t ‘going urban,’” she said at the time. “It was like, ‘What does that have to do with anything?’ I have to play the role like, ‘Yo, what’s up, Batman? What’s going on wit chu?’”

Of course, it was announced this week that she is set to star as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the upcoming film The Batman opposite Robert Pattinson, who plays Batman.

Who’s laughing now, huh?!
