Michael Douglas Opens Up About His Son Cameron’s Drug Addiction

In a new interview with People magazine, Michael Douglas got candid about his son Cameron Douglas’s drug abuse.

Apparently, Cameron’s addiction started as a teenager with drinking and pot-smoking, which soon evolved into cocaine and heroin. As the outlet reports, by his 20s Cameron was carrying a gun and dealing methamphetamines.

“I hated the wreckage I saw in my life because of drugs, but I just couldn’t stop,” Cameron told People.

During these tumultuous years, his parents Michael and Diandra tried getting help for their son. But their efforts kept failing.

“There were moments when hope dwindled… and then it’s just a train out of the station,” Michael said. “Life became a series of crises. I thought I was going to lose him.”

Thank you Michael and Cameron for being vocal about substance abuse. It’s an issue for we need more advocates for.
