Angelina Jolie Opens Up About Finding The Strength to Work Again, Post-Divorce

Divorce is incredibly hard, but Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt experienced a whole other level in the public spotlight.

The actress recently opened up to People magazine about how she found the strength to play Maleficent again in the upcoming sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, amid all the drama in her personal life.

“It was a tough time,” she said. “I’d been coming off a few years of difficulty, and I was not feeling very strong. In fact, I was feeling pretty broken. It took me a moment to feel the strength of [Maleficent] again.”

Angelina has six children with Brad — daughters Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, and Vivienne, 11, and sons Maddox, 18, Pax, 15, and Knox, 11.

While the kids were around in London during most of the film shoot, Angelina couldn’t get them to appear on screen this time. (Her youngest appeared as a young Aurora in the original.)

“I tried,” she quipped. “Viv still can’t believe I made her a princess. None of my kids want to be actors. [They’re into] business, humanitarian affairs, things like that. Nobody was interested!”
