Naomi Campbell Says Designers Used To Ask Her To Fall On Their Runways, LOL!

The legendary Naomi Campbell has a walk most models envy, but recently she spoke out about a hilarious request some designers asked of her.

Following one of her most famous fashion moments during Vivienne Westwood’s fall 1993 show, where she fell on the runway, designers thought it was so cute that they wanted her to repeat it for their own shows!

“I was embarrassed,” the supermodel told Vivienne almost 26 years after the incident, during an interview for British Vogue. “I was embarrassed because also it was not the right time of the month for a woman to fall and I felt like I should have practiced more … there’s a trick to walking in your shoes.”

She added, “The most important thing is that I said to myself, ‘Get up and keep going, that’s all you have to do.’”

Thankfully, Naomi laughed at all of the press coverage the next day. “A couple of people, designers, asked me if I would fall for them. And I was like, ‘Why would you want me to fall unnecessarily?!’ ‘Press! The press that you got!’ But it wasn’t planned!” she told the designer. “They asked me if I would do it and I said, ‘Absolutely not, it goes against everything that I stand for. I’m not falling purposefully.’”

And for the record, Vivienne thought Naomi’s iconic catwalk stumble was “fantastic.”

Leave it to Naomi to make even a fall look stunning! (If only we can master that.)
