This could be the end of an incredible era…

Alex Trebek has been battling pancreatic cancer, and while last we heard he was doing ok, now it seems things have turned. The host hinted that his time on the show might be nearing the end.

In an interview with Canada’s W5, Alex said he will continue to host the popular evening game show “as long [his] skills don’t diminish.”

While he remains steadfast about staying on Jeopardy!, he admits that his skills have “started to diminish.”

“I talk to the producers about this all the time now,” he shared. “I say, ‘Look, I’m slurring my words. My tongue doesn’t work as much, as well as it used to. The chemo has caused sores inside my mouth. It makes it difficult for me to speak and enunciate properly.'”

He continued, “They say, ‘Well, we don’t notice.’ I notice those things. And I’m sure there are observant members of the television audience who notice also.”
