Jane Fonda Pays Tribute To Her Brother, Peter Fonda, Who Died Last Week

America is mourning Peter Fonda, who died last week of respiratory failure after a battle with lung cancer. He was 79.

His equally iconic sister, Jane Fonda, spoke to Page Six about losing her younger brother.

“I am very sad,” she said. “He was my sweet-hearted baby brother. The talker of the family. I have had beautiful alone time with him these last days. He went out laughing.”

The famous siblings were descendants of Hollywood royalty: their father, Henry Fonda. Peter’s daughter Bridget also went into the industry with roles in various 1990s films like It Could Happen To You and Jackie Brown.

Peter’s wife Parky told Variety in a statement: “In one of the saddest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hearts … And, while we mourn the loss of this sweet and gracious man, we also wish for all to celebrate his indomitable spirit and love of life. In honor of Peter, please raise a glass to freedom.”

RIP, Peter.
