A few days have passed since Miley Cyrus and Kaitlynn Carter were spotted smooching in Italy, and now they’ve returned to Los Angeles — together.

The two friends were spotted driving in Los Angeles together. Miley is newly single, as is Kaitlynn (who recently split from Brody Jenner).

A source previously told People magazine that they spent several days at the il Sereno Hotel near Lake Como, along with Miley’s’ older sister Brandi.

Even thought rumors have circulated about a possible romance, the source also noted that they have mutual friends in common and are “just having fun” together, adding that Miley “wasn’t introducing Kaitlynn as her girlfriend. She only called Kaitlynn her friend.”

“They were with other friends, spent time by the pool and enjoyed a boat tour on the lake,” the source added. “Everyone seemed very happy. They were in a party mood, had cocktails and seemed to have a great time. Miley seemed especially great. She was very happy and laughing a lot. You could tell she had fun. She was very close with Kaitlynn.”
