Taylor Swift took the stage at the Teen Choice Awards to receive the inaugural Icon Award, and in doing so, she made a special announcement.

After praising World Cup champion Alex Morgan for taking a stand against the gender pay gap along with Alex’s teammates on the U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team, the singer went on to thank the fans in an emotional message of encouragement.

“One thing I wish I would have known when I was a teen is mistakes are inevitable,” she said. “You think you can possibly ace life, but it’s normal to make mistakes… it’s normal. That’s what’s going to happen in life.”

But she saved a big surprise for the end of her speech, telling viewers she will be dropping her new single, “Lover” on Friday, Aug. 16.
