Tom plays Fred Rogers (aka Mr. Rogers) in the film, which is based on an article written by journalist Tom Junod that centered on Fred and the ensuing friendship the two formed before the TV star’s death in 2003.

In the film, Tom Junod is a jaded magazine reporter who is assigned to profile the children’s TV show host. As People summarizes, “it follows him as he overcomes his skepticism and learns Rogers’ valued thoughts about empathy, kindness and decency.”
