Um, There’s a ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel Novel in the Works!

Can you just die?!

This week, Scholastic announced in a statement that it would be publishing a prequel to Suzanna Collins’s best-selling series The Hunger Games, coming in May of next year.

The novel is currently named Untitled Panem Novel.

According to a statement, the book will focus on on the morning of the reaping of the 10th Hunger Games in Panem. That’s 64 years before the events of the first Hunger Games! Long before Katniss Everdeen.

“With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival,” the author said in a statement. “The reconstruction period ten years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days—as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet—provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”

We’re all for this!
