Ronan Farrow Calls Out The Media In Acceptance Speech

Ronan Farrow might have ruffled feathers while accepting a Mirror Award for media reporting from Syracuse University. Holding his award, he looked to the crowd and said: “I can see people who have lied to protect power.”

He declined to name names, however.

As we all know, Ronan and The New York Times won Pulitzers in 2018 for stories outlining sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein. Ronan followed that success with reporting about disgraced CBS president Les Moonves.

His upcoming book Catch and Kill is in the works, and is expected to highlight the scandal around NBC News when it declined to print Ronan’s reporting on Harvey. (He eventually took the story to The New Yorker.)

“I am proud to stand up for the truth,” he said. “I am proud to stand up for the press. We are certainly not the enemy of the people.”
