Mariska Hargitay Remembers Her First Date With Husband Peter Hermann
It was totally love at first sight for Mariska Hargitay and Peter Hermann.
In a new interview with People magazine, the actress spoke about her first date with her now husband of 15 years, describing it as complete kismet.
“As a little girl you’re told, ‘Oh, when it’s the right person, you’ll know. You’ll know,’” she said. “But listen, I had been engaged previously, and I never knew.”
The two met in 2002 on the set of SVU, where he ended up asking her out — to church!
“We went to church together, and it was like getting hit with a lightning bolt,” she explained of their connection. “I just started sobbing. Peter thought I was crying because I was so moved by the service. No, it was because I was just overwhelmed, realizing he was the one.”
