Can you believe that the world famous 1976 duet between Elton John and Kiki Dee, “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” was actually incredibly disliked at the beginning??

Elton’s longtime producing partner, Bernie Taupin, admitted to Page Six that he “hated it,” quipping that he clearly doesn’t know a hit when he hears one because “it was the biggest single we had in Europe.”

Bernie actually wrote the track, ironically.

“I just did not like it,” he added. “But Elton always ignores me when I say I don’t like a song. He always knows better than me.”

Thank God for that, too!
