Disney Might Not Film In Georgia Anymore If Abortion Law Is Passed

Much of the country is shocked and appalled by the recent abortion laws taking effect in the South. And consequently, numerous corporations are vowing to not do business in these states should the laws pass — Disney is one of them.

Disney CEO Bob Iger recently said it would be “very difficult” to continue filming in Georgia should the state’s new abortion law go into effect next year.

“I think many people who work for us will not want to work there, and we will have to heed their wishes in that regard,” he said to Reuters. “Right now we are watching it very carefully.”

A few weeks ago, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp approved and signed a law that would ban doctors from doing abortions once a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is about six weeks into a pregnancy.

“I don’t see how it’s practical for us to continue to shoot there,” Bob added. “I rather doubt we will.”

If Disney pulls out, it would be a big blow to the state. After all, in the last few years Disney has filmed movies such as Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame in the state. Of course, when you shoot you hire local extras and create a vast number of production jobs.

Do you agree Disney should pull out?
