George W. Bush’s Advice To Billy Bush After Trump Tape Scandal

It’s hard to imagine what Billy Bush went through following the aftermath of the infamous Access Hollywood tape, where he’s heard laughing while Donald Trump boasts about “grabbing women by the p*ssy.”

Now that he has another job at Extra Extra, the host (and cousin to George W. Bush) is remembering those first weeks in an interview with People.

“I fell completely apart,” he said. “I went through resentment, anger and being inconsolable.”

Billy was fired from the Today show after the 2005 tape was leaked. He continued to open up about what George told him that helped him form a new perspective on the matter.

“W called me three days after I got fired,” Billy said. “I asked him, ‘What do I do? I need to fight.’ And he said, ‘No, it isn’t worth it. You have an opportunity here to just live and accept the fact that you’re not extraordinary. It’s going to be fine.’ And he was right.”R

Of his new gig, Billy said, “I’m so excited for this show. This won’t be like anything you’ve seen before.”

Extra Extra will premiere this fall on Fox.
