Elizabeth Holmes Appears Calm & Collected In The Courtroom

Elizabeth Holmes appeared in court, marking the first time she’s been seen publicly since back-to-back documentaries chronicling her rise and fall debuted last month.

The 35-year-old looked calm, as per usual.

The disgraced tech entrepreneur, and founder of Theranos, faces charges in wire fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud. Also present was former Theranos president Ramesh “Sunny” Balwani, who is also facing charges.

Last month, the two were charged with “raising more than $700 million from investors through an elaborate, years-long fraud” by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to People magazine, “[Elizabeth and Ramesh] settled with the SEC, with Holmes agreeing to pay $500,000 and be barred from serving as a director or officer of a public company for 10 years. She has not admitted or denied any wrongdoing with regard to the settlement.”

Two separate movies are currently in development, with both Jennifer Lawrence and Kate McKinnon to play Elizabeth during her rise at Theranos, respectively.
