Beto O’Rourke Raised More Money In One Day Than Any Democratic 2020 Candidate

Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke said this week that he raised more than $6 million in the single day after announcing his presidential campaign — that’s more than all of his Democratic opponents so far, including Sen. Bernie Sanders.

Beto got $6,136,736 in online donations in the 24 hours since he launched his 2020 bid on Thursday, his campaign said, according to multiple outlets.

“In just 24 hours, Americans across this country came together to prove that it is possible to run a true grassroots campaign for president — a campaign by all of us, for all of us, that answers not to the PACs, corporations, and special interests but to the people,” Beto said in a statement to NBC News.

His donations beat out Bernie Sanders’ $5.9 million, Sen. Kamala Harris’ $1.5 million, Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s $300,000.

Still, the Times reports that until financial disclosure forms are made public next month, campaign finance announcements cannot be verified independently.
