A ‘Sopranos’ Prequel Movie Is Happening

Are you ready?!

The title and release date for the upcoming prequel to The Sopranos is here! The film will hit theaters on Sept. 25, 2020, according to Deadline.

The title is named after the capital city where the show was set: Newark.

The prequel, which will feature younger versions of the beloved characters, is set in the 1960s in Newark when the riots between Italian-Americans and African-Americans were at an all-time high.

Alesandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro and Michael Gandolfini are starring in the film.

To make it even better, Michael is son to James Gandolfini and will play his dad’s iconic character, Tony Soprano, in his younger years. How cool!
