Folks At ABC Doubted Jussie Smollett’s Story During His ‘GMA’ Interview

While the investigation of Jussie Smollett is ongoing, so are reports that doubts had been circling since the beginning.

ABC employees were supposedly questioning Jussie’s alleged racist and homophobic assault immediately following his interview with Robin Roberts on GMA, a new report says. Staffers who were present for the exclusive sit-down felt the truth behind Jussie’s story was “up in the air,” sources told The Blast.

Another source told The Post that the interview came about because the Empire star was “adamant” about appearing on GMA.

He specifically requested that Robin handle the interview because the two knew each other from when she appeared on an episode of Empire that aired in April, according to The Blast.

Jussie maintained he was a victim throughout the interview, even addressing the rumors that he’d made it up. “At first it was the thing of like, listen, if I tell the truth then that’s it because it’s the truth,” he told Robin. “Then it became a thing of, like, how can you doubt that? How can you not believe that? It’s the truth.”

A grand jury will begin hearing evidence this week that could result in felony charges against Jussie, TMZ reported. He could be charged with filing a false police report.
